  • Overview

    Assist students and alumni with interviews, career preparation, and job exploration. Assists in developing job and internship opportunities for students and graduates. Develop and maintain relationships with employers, faculty, and alumni to foster employment opportunities.

    Responsibilities

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Advises students in one-on-one appointments and conducts group presentations on a wide variety of career development topics.
    Maintains current knowledge of industry specific information on resume, cover letter, references and interviewing practices.
    Assists with career- related issues, advising students regarding utilizing technology and social media effectively.
    Assists with development and maintenance of digital and print resources and guides to advance students’ career development.
    Assists with planning and implementation of events to facilitate student and alumni interactions with employers and industry professionals. Events may include mock interview day, portfolio review, or job fair.
    Facilitates student and faculty engagement with employers. Makes job referrals to students based on recommendations from faculty.
    Coordinates with Program Director and faculty from each department regarding opportunities for internships/pre-professional experiences, available positions, and employer informational and career development events.
    Networks with employers to expand current internship and job opportunities for students and alumni.
    Markets services and programs to current and prospective students, parents, employer representatives, faculty, administrators, staff, and alumni.
    Establishes and leverages relationships with alumni.
    Participates actively in campus, community, state, regional, and national associations.
    Enters data and performance statistics into database on a routine basis.
    Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education:
    Bachelor’s degree in related field; or equivalent education and experience.

    Experience:
    Two years of directly related professional experience in career advising, recruiting or a related industry.

    Skills:
    Excellent Interpersonal Skills – ability to establish interpersonal rapport and relate to individuals with a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures and work effectively with multiple internal and external constituencies
    Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    Basic social media and marketing skills.
    Ability to plan, coordinate and execute events, conduct classroom presentations, workshops, and programs.
    Experience with website, mobile applications and virtual environments for job search, resume construction, interview preparation, on-line networking and recruiting systems
    Solid understanding of job market trends and projections.
    Ability to maintain confidentiality as appropriate.
    Valid CA driver’s license.

    Preferred:
    Master’s degree in relevant field
    Experience and knowledge in industries related to College’s offered programs/ degrees.
    Experience with and an understanding of higher education policies and procedures.
    Knowledge of federal and state laws affecting career services operations and the employment process.
